Lighting the lamps or diyas everyday near the Sacred Tulsi Plant on both sunset and sunrise during the month is one of the ritual people follow. One can see devotees even lit lamps at their entrances to invite Goddess Lakshmi in their houses ,there by prosperity and wellness.
Devotees visit temples ,where Temples would light a Diya and would bring the diya to the top of the Dhwaja Sthambam in the temple and tie it there on Karthika Purnima or Karthika Pournami. This diya is called as Akasa Deepam.

Sacred River Bath:
Another important ritual is taking bath in river during Karthika Masam or Karthika Month. As the month follows the rainy seasons rivers are full to their brim with fresh water from rains . It is said that rivers absorb energy from Moon in the previous month 'Aswyuja Masam' and when people take bath they absorb the energy from water.
Hence it is mandated that one should take a bath in the river in Karthika Masam.
As per the Medical reports in Karthika Masam Water will gain more Magnetic Power from Earth and will be stored in water before the Sunrise.
