Tomatoes and onions are a must haves in my kitchen counter ,and this is a spicy splatter of this combination.
This is my mom's recipe which is delectable with its great texture .
A perfect side dish to rice, flavored rice, curries, roti, idli, dosa .
This is a basic base to many gravy curries too, so, if you like you can throw in some boiled potatoes, green peas or cauliflower or boiled eggs or just tofu .

Being a simple ingredient base gravy or stew it does take very less time to cook .

Tomatoes 8 to 10
Onions chopped finely 1 cup
Green chilies 5 to 6 slit lengthwise
Curry leaves few
Tamarind pulp according taste
Salt for taste
Turmeric 2 pinches
Red chili powder 1 table spoon
Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin Seed 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander leaves few
Sugar (optional) 1 table spoon
Procedure:
Step 1: Bring a bowl of water to boil , then add in the tomatoes and boil them until the skin begins to peel off.
Step 2: Now let them cool, when cooled enough ,peel the skin on the tomatoes .
make them into smooth puree
Step 3:Now heat a pan add in the tempering , when sputters add the chopped onions, green chillies, curry leaves and fry. When onions turn light brown color , add in the prepared puree along with 2 cups of water .

Bring it boil , add in red chili powder, salt, tamarind pulp,sugar(optional) , simmer the flame and let boil for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Switch off the stove , garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
