My Day 2 Yoga

      Today let's learn how to control yourself with 'Mudras' ,yes it is true that we can handle or control our body by just performing 'mudras' with fingers in a certain way to find balance of self, position them in a particular fashion to heal or change the body, bring your hands together or draw them apart to meditate and focus on the internal or external nature of the self. You may seek generosity, patience, morality or concentration; it's all within your grasp. Though we only have a mere two hands and ten fingers, the possibilities are virtually limitless.
There are about 100's of these 'Mudras' , here I show you 14 important 'Mudras' .Let's take look on  5 basic and important 'Mudras' today.
                   

                         YOGA MUDRA-Healing Hand Yoga
A Mudra is a position usually performed with your hands and fingers that seals and directs energy through the body. It's like speaking to the body without words. How you hold your hands and position your fingers in a given posture will generate different energies, so to speak, and then reactions to those energies.

                                                                                                                            

Mudras are easy to perform at anytime,  although sitting in the 'Padmasana' or 'Vajrasana' and focusing on the healing can be an advantage.

Although mudras can be used for healing certain ailments, regular practise of mudras will contribute to your overall good health and can be used as a preventive measures.
 

Procedure:
1.Mudras are to be performed with both hands at the same time, unless otherwise specified.
2.Start with 10 minutes at a time and increase up to 3/4 hour for best results.
3.Fingers should remain comfortable during the procedure and not held stiffly or tight.
Benefits:
  • Often mudras will provide instant relief with lots of different ailments.
  • Mudras not only work on your body, they also work on your mind.  Re balancing the body to its natural healthy state.
  • Improvement in your general health will be noticed after doing Mudras on a regular basis. 
Types of mudra:
1.Apan Vayu Mudra:

Description:  
   Fold the forefinger to touch the mound of the thumb.  The little finger should be held erect. Then place tips of middle finger and ring finger together on tip of thumb all touching each other. (BOTH HANDS).

       
Benefits: 
1.Strengthens heart.
2.Emergency first aid for severe heart attack if administered within 2 seconds.
3.Self Confidence.
4.Normalizes blood pressure.
5.Vomiting.
6.Menstruation related problems.
7.Purifies the entire body.
2.Gyan Mudra:
Description:

The thumb and index finger  are brought together gently while all the other  fingers remain upright.

3.Rudra Mudra:
Description: 

 Place tips of  index finger and ring finger together on top of the tip of thumb, with other fingers extended comfortably. (BOTH HANDS)

4.Prithvi Mudra 

Description:  

 Place the tip of the ring finger on top of the tip of the thumb. Extend all the other fingers and keep them comfortably straight as possible.

5.Shankha Mudra:

Description: 

 The left thumb should be held in the right fist and then the left index finger should touch the right thumb.Put light pressure with the remaining fingers of the left hand onto the closed fist to the right hand.  Swap over sides.
