Peanuts or groundnuts are high in energy ,contain health benefiting nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins that are essential for optimum health when consumed in required amounts .They even add a crunchy flavor to any dish , with a strong taste .
Today I want to share a unique flavor of peanuts , combined with a load of garlic , which gives a strong aroma to this powder .
This powder goes well with Idli or with Dosa or even with ghee rice . This recipe uses NO OIL , as peanuts are rich in fats and oils .
Ingredients:
Groundnuts 100 gms / 1/4 cup
Garlic Pods 10 to 15 / depending upon taste
Black gram 1 table spoon
Coriander Seeds 1/4 table spoon
Red Chilies according to taste
Salt according to taste
Tamarind according to taste
Mustard Seeds 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek Seeds 7 to 8 count
Cumin Seeds 1 teaspoon
Procedure:
Step 1:Dry roast ground nuts , until they turn brown.
Step 2: Now dry roast rest of the ingredients except for the garlic cloves.
Step 3: Let it cool, when cooled add them into a blender and blend into a coarse powder , now add in the garlic pods and give it pulses , until they are blended into the powder .
Step 4: Add salt to taste and serve with hot Idli, or ghee rice or spread it on to a dosa.
Notes:
- Let the ingredients cool enough , so that the peanuts will not bloat out the oils while blending.
- Add in the garlic pods at last after blending the mixture , so that it wont end up giving a strong tint of garlicy flavor
- Do store it in a air tight container , for maximum flavor
- This powder has a shelf life of about 10 days , if you can spare it .
- Due to the addition of garlic in noticeable quantities , this might produce bloating , or may give garlicy breath .
